It's at this time of year when the temperature is near freezing that a campfire shows its worth. Its not just heat, its colour, sound, comfort and especially memories. Those flickering flames conjur up little images that speak of days gone by, not just in my life but in the lives of every person who has ever spent the night in the glow of its radiance. Its almost like those collective memories come together and we can share in the experiences of people from long ago, a collective fireside memory that can be tapped into and appreciated only by those who have partaken of this rite of passage.
Get a cold night, get out, get a fire lit and see what those images conjur up for you.
